\"\"<\/a>Dieser Kontrast zu „Wuthering Heights“ war eine bewusste Entscheidung. Schon hier zeigte sich, dass Kate Bush von Anfang an ein ganz klares Bild von ihrer Musik und den Mechanismen der Vermarktung darum hatte. Von Anfang an ist dieses Statement da – von mir wird es keine Wiederholung des ewig Gleichen geben.
\n„I’d like people to listen to it as a songwriting song, as opposed to something weird, which was the reaction to ‚Wuthering Heights.‘ That’s why it’s important. If the next song had been similar, straight away I would have been labeled, and that’s something I really don’t want. As soon as you’ve got a label, you can’t do anything. Diese Ballade ist meilenweit weg von geisterhaftem, schrillem Gesang. Mit ihren ersten zwei Singles schon spannt Kate Bush einen ganzen Kosmos von M\u00f6glichkeiten auf. Kates Stimme ist hier tief, ruhig, fast fraulich \u2013 und das, obwohl dieses Lied von einer Sechzehnj\u00e4hrigen gesungen wird. Der Song stammt aus ersten Demo-Sessions im Jahre 1975.<\/div>\n
„Maybe another interesting thing about this album is that two of the tracks, ‚The man with the child in his eyes‘ and ‚Saxophone Song‘ were recorded about three years ago. This was in fact my initial plunge into the business, as they say, with the help of Dave Gilmour from Pink Floyd. I managed to get through to him through a contact of my brothers‘ and at that time he was looking around for unknown talent. He came along and heard me and we put some things down and he put up the money for me to make my first demo in a proper recording studio with arrangements. I owe to him the fact that I got my contract and that I’m where I am now. Two of these original tracks that we had on the demo are on the album, so maybe that helps with the variation.“ [2]<\/div>\n
\"\"<\/a>Es gibt vielf\u00e4ltige Interpretationsm\u00f6glichkeiten \u00fcber das, wor\u00fcber hier im Lied erz\u00e4hlt wird. Ein Lied \u00fcber einen unsichtbaren Begleiter, wie ihn Kinder oft haben? Oder vielleicht doch \u00fcber einen sehr viel \u00e4lteren Freund? Passiert da etwas Anst\u00f6\u00dfiges? Wie so oft bei Kate ist es doppelb\u00f6dig. Es wird dem H\u00f6rer \u00fcberlassen, wie tief und abseitig er den Text auslegen will. Kate selbst gibt in Interviews h\u00f6chstens harmlose Andeutungen von sich \u2013 und die Abgr\u00fcnde l\u00e4sst sie aus.<\/div>\n
„The inspiration for ‚The man with the child in his eyes‘ was really just a particular thing that happened when I went to the piano. The piano just started speaking to me. It was a theory that I had had for a while that I just observed in most of the men that I know: the fact that they just are little boys inside and how wonderful it is that they manage to retain this magic.“ [2]<\/div>\n
Diese von Kate Bush selbst angegebene Deutung erscheint mir aber am plausibelsten. Es spricht eines der Hauptthemen an, das sich wie ein roter Faden durch das Bush-Universum schl\u00e4ngelt. M\u00e4nner und Frauen sind sich eigentlich fremd, aber sie k\u00f6nnen nicht voneinander ablassen. Besonders sch\u00f6n sagt dies Kate Bush zu diesem Song in einer anderen Quelle: „I just noticed that men retain a capacity to enjoy childish games throughout their lives, and women don’t seem to be able to do that.“ [3]<\/div>\n
Harmonisch ist das Lied eine Mischung aus e-Moll und G-Dur [4]. G-Dur enth\u00e4lt nach Beckh [5] stark das Element des Seelisch-Empfindenden, des F\u00fchlenden. Es ist die Tonart der sprie\u00dfenden Bl\u00fctenf\u00fclle der Maienzeit, die Liebesoffenbarung im Werden der Natur. G-Dur ist anmutig, bescheiden, lieblich, innig, oft auch kindlich, unschuldig. E-Moll ist gem\u00e4\u00df Beckh [5] klagend, aber auch erhaben, es ist die Tonart der „hellen Tr\u00e4ume“,\u00a0 Das Bewusstsein f\u00fcr Tonarten war offenbar bei Kate Bush von Anfang an da.\u00a0„The Man with the child in his eyes“ ist ein \u00fcberraschend reifer Song f\u00fcr eine Sechzehnj\u00e4hrige. „Wuthering Heights“ f\u00fchrte die d\u00e4monische Wildheit und die Kompromisslosigkeit vor, die in Kate Bush steckt, dieser Song im Gegensatz dazu das Nachdenkliche, fast etwas Gr\u00fcblerische. Zwei Seiten einer Medaille aus Gold.\u00a0 (\u00a9 Achim\/aHAJ<\/strong>)<\/div>\n
